Toys Class Assembly - Extract

Extract 1

(Toy player 1 comes on and stands at the table)

Toy player 1:

My favourite toys are my trucks and my trailer. My truck is broken and I just can't get it to move! Vrrrrmmm... (Pulls them across the table and drives them off stage still acting)

Toy player 2:

My favourite toy is my princess dolly! I l love dressing her up in her favourite dresses! (Talks to the dolly) Would you like to wear the pink (Picks up the dresses) or the blue dress today? (Walks off the stage still talking to her dolly)

Toy player 3

And my favourite toy is my ipod! I play on it all day!

All:

(Tut in disapproval and shake their index finger)

Toy Player 4

And my favourite toy is this teddy my granny gave me. It is very very old!

Class 5:

Throw it out if it is old!

Child 4:

No no, no! It is not old and tatty! It is as old as my granny!

Extract 2

Narrator:

Children played out on the streets a lot with skipping ropes and conkers! And hop scotch!

Narrator:

(The whole class recites the poem below. One child skips and the rest sing or clap the beat to this poem. Another child plays jumps to hop scotch along with the beat)


Teddy bear ,teddy bear go upstairs
Teddy bear, teddy bear say your prayers

Extract 3

Narrator:

Then more toys started to be made out of plastic.

Narrator:

Collecting toy cars was very popular. Boys liked collecting little match box cars and trucks. (Points to power-point slide)

Child 1

Hey! I have matchbox cars. I will swap my dump truck with your cement mixer.

Child 2:

No I have two dump trucks. I will swap my London red bus for your Plymouth?

Child 1:

Deal! (The children swap cars)

Narrator:

The first Barbie (Power point slide) came along and hula hoops became the craze! Things were never going to be the same again. (Play the Barbie Girl original them song and 2- 3 children come on to do the hula hoops on stage and do some twirls)
