Hannah’s Duty (extract)

Mrs Church always liked giving out jobs to the class at the beginning of the year. So on the first day of the term in September, all her class were given jobs and she wrote all the children’s names and their jobs on the big pin up board next to the grey cupboard.

Hannah was sick on the first day of the term so when she hung her coat up the next day, her name was missing from the list pinned up on the board.  Mrs Church had forgotten about Hannah and had to think really hard about the job Hannah would do because she had given out all the jobs to everyone and there was nothing left.  She told Hannah she would tell her what her job was after lunch...
